I have been experimenting with Pinterest and have realized that it does really well for bringing in traffic. Far better than daily tweets do for a specific company. People in general are visual creatures and being able to be captured by an image can be a powerful thing....

Everyday people are relying more and more on social to tell them what is "cool". It's like being in high school, and if the popular kid likes it then you should too, right? Having the ability to let people know what you think is "cool" is becoming more and more critical in this social age.

I couldn't agree more. So many companies do try to make their facebook page brochure like but that is not what people want. People want to interact, they want to be heard, they want to feel like they are involved with something. Facebook gives businesses the perfect opportunity to reach out and "touch" their customers, but so few take advantage.

Great article. I think a lot of companies must realize that is takes time to build trust on social networking sites. Most aren't going to typically be able to have a successful social media campaign in the first week, or even month. It takes time to build a community. I am grateful that more and more businesses are realizing the importance of having a successful social media plan.

This year the LeapPad is the hot toy. It is almost impossible to find one and they are selling on ebay for more than double the price. I wonder how much "exclusivity" actually helps in marketing and selling these products. I wonder if Tyco had made more than enough Tickle Me Elmos for every toddler in America if they would have been as successful?

It is hard to think that Google + could compete with Facebook, but there is a real possibility that in time it will. Google has become the standard in search and leveraging ranking with the use of Google + pages could be a real motivator for many.

I think that consistency is key. When your social content has your audience waiting for your next move, that is when you know that you have succeeded. Just creating one viral video will not make you successful. It might make you popular for a week, but that is not the goal of most.

Great minds think a like! And yes, it is a great article. The lines between SEO and internet marketing are blurring more and more each day and it is important that anyone who claims to be an internet marketer have some knowledge of how impactful seo can be.

I absolutely agree Alexis. A well thought out social media strategy should increase a company’s bottom line at the end of the day. It might take a little longer to get there, and it might be harder to identify the ROI of a social campaign, but a good campaign will pay off. Slow and steady wins the race, right?

You are right. I don't think a company should expect a social media avenue to immediately affect their revenue. But rather use it as a platform to gain brand awareness and brand loyalty as well.
